THE KING MYSTERY
JAHVE AND THE DAUGHTER OF ZION
History and Mystery
In the book 'The Kingmystery. Jahve and the daughter of Zion.' Jewish and early Christian history, culture, and mythology are explored. This is done through a mystical interpretation of the Bible's fantastic parables and stories.
The book is "double-stranded"; it presents both the historical angle, but also the mythical and mystical aspect. Below I have attempted to separate the historical overview from the mystical interpretation.
The historical overview – as we see it:
- Around 1000 BC, King David united Israel, but after the death of his son, King Solomon, the land was divided into Israel and Judah.
- In 586 BC, Jerusalem was destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar, and the people's elite were deported to Babylon.
- When they returned some two generations later, the kingdom was not restored. Instead, the priests took power over the people.
- Centuries later, the sect leader John the Baptist tried to restore the kingdom. But in vain, the king, Jesus, was executed.
- Instead, Christianity developed into a priesthood with its headquarters in Rome.
The mystical interpretation – as the prophets of the Bible saw it:
- In the time of kings of Israel and Judah, Yahweh came every year at Pentecost to his sacred marriage with the land and the people, Zion's daughter.
- But Zion's daughter was a harlot who prostituted herself to other gods, so Yahweh allowed the Babylonians to carry her off to Babylon.
- When the people returned, Judah did not fight for the return of the kingdom. Instead, the priests took power – on earth and in heaven.
- The prophet John the Baptist had the Daughter of Zion reborn to show Yahweh that she was now an innocent virgin and ready for the holy wedding.
- But the Daughter of Zion failed again. Now she committed adultery with the Herodian princes and the Romans.
- The Pharisees and the Jewish priests did not want to give up power, so they killed the king.
In the book, the two narratives are combined, and the mystical worldview is outlined and explained. The result is a story very different from what we are accustomed to.
